From Perpetual Relocation to Enduring Settlement: Living in the Northernmost Neighborhood of Tehran | Seyyed Mohammad Beheshti

Niavaran, an affluent neighborhood in northern Tehran, once renowned for its beautiful gardens, is now struggling with overpopulation and excessive construction. The reduction of everything to its lowest quantitative levels, the disappearance of urban life, and the obscurity of the who and the where are the results of the darkness overshadowing our cities, affecting not only Niavaran but all areas of Tehran. Undoubtedly, it is only “urban dynamics” that can rise above this darkness and restore the flow of life to cities and urban areas.

نیاوران؛ محله‌ای مرفه‌نشین در شمال تهران که روزی به باغ‌های زیبایش شهره بود، امروز با مشکل تراکم جمعیت و ساخت‌وسازهای بی‌رویه روبه‌روست. تنزل همه‌چیز به نازل‌ترین مراتب کمّی، از بین رفتن زندگی شهری و سیطرۀ گمنامی و ناشناختگی، حاصل تاریکی شهرهای ماست که نه‌فقط بر نیاوران، بلکه بر تمام مناطق تهران سایه افکنده است. بدون شک تنها «مدنیت» است که می‌تواند بر این تاریکی غلبه کند و جریان زندگی را به شهرها و مناطق شهری بازگرداند.
